Concept

In the haunted industrial city of Duskwall, a war rages in the streets.

A truce between three gangs has collapsed following the murder of Roric, the leader of the strongest of the three, the Crows. The other two factions—the Lampblacks and the Red Sashes—now vie for control of the city's underworld.

You are a proud member of the Red Sashes, trained in the art of the sword and the use of a weighted silk sash to confuse and disarm your opponents.

The Red Sashes have discovered that the leader of the Lampblacks, Baszo Baz, has enlisted the aid of a mysterious cult, and tonight they plan to execute a ritual that may turn the tide of the war.

It is your job to go behind enemy lines to ensure this doesn't happen.

Aim

Our aim is to play out the Red Sashes' attack. Will they succeed in disrupting the ritual? Will they arrive too late? Will their mere presence affect the mystical forces at play?

In that sense, the aim is not strictly to defeat the cultists—although you can play with that goal in mind if it pleases you. Rather, the aim is just to see what happens.

Tone and Subject Matter

The tone of the scenario is dark, weird, and violent.

Subject matter will include physical violence, including descriptions of combat wounds.

Depending on everyone's comfort level, and how the mission goes, the climax may involve some level of body horror.

We can work together to establish boundaries at the beginning of the session.

Play

You'll be playing World of Blades, a rules-light version of the game Blades in the Dark.

No prep is required on your part and the whole session, including character creation, should clock in around two hours.

During play, you will be expected to speak definitively about your character's actions and stick with the tone. There should be no need for note-keeping, and dice math will be at a minimum.

This is strictly a one-shot, so drive your character like a stolen car.
